City of Dreams Manila is committed to the highest standards of sustainable operations.

Guided by the sustainability strategy of Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited (“Melco") across all its properties in Asia and Europe, the integrated resort has been embarking on numerous green initiatives since 2018.
Among these are:

  • vermicomposting facility and greenhouse nursery on property
  • sustainable coffee program for which it partners with local coffee farmers
  • 1.2 MW solar solutions, making the property the country’s first integrated resort to utilize solar energy
  • Onsite water filtration plant and bottling system with NORDAQ, resulting in the elimination to date of 95% single-use plastic bottles, throughout the property.

Forbes Travel Guide, the globally recognized rating system for luxury hotels, restaurants, and spas, named City of Dreams Manila, one of three finalists of the inaugural 2023 Responsible Hospitality Award in the Best of the Year Awards. The luxury resort’s energy efficiency efforts to tackle climate change -- such as setting the goal of achieving carbon neutrality in its operations, improving energy efficiency and optimizing its building management system to track energy use -- were also recognized at the 2019 Sustainable Business Awards (SBA) Philippines presented to Melco. SBA is Asia’s leading sustainable award platform since 2012.

The three luxury hotels on property: Nüwa Manila, Nobu Hotel and Hyatt Regency Manila are recipients of the prestigious ASEAN Green Hotel Award for 2022-2024 for upholding sustainable tourism through environment-friendly principles, resource consumption reduction and local community involvement. The integrated resort is set to carry out more sustainable milestones as it works its way towards achieving eco-efficient operations, and as it advances Melco’s RISE to go Above & Beyond ( link ). Through maintaining four key material topics that underpin Melco’s sustainability commitment, including “Restoring our World”, “Inspiring our Communities”, “Sustaining our Supply Chain” and “Empowering our Business”, the strategy drives performance and sustainability initiatives to help the Company reach its ambitious goals by 2030:

  • achieving carbon neutrality
  • becoming a zero-waste property and eliminating problematic single-use plastics in daily operations
  • becoming the employer of choice and create the best-in-class working environment for its employees and to be the best partner to the community around the world
  • inspiring guests by seamlessly integrating sustainability in their experience and demonstrating that a sustainable future is a better future.
